NPD, Main Street to host first National Night Out event tonight

Noblesville Main Street, along with the Noblesville Police Dept. will celebrate National Night Out tonight, Aug. 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. in City Lot 3 at the intersection of Eighth and Maple streets downtown.

“National Night Out is a program designed to bring awareness to crime prevention and drug avoidance programs and to encourage and celebrate our police-community partnerships,” Chief of Police Kevin Jowitt said “We want this to be a fun and interesting evening for our neighbors. It’s a great opportunity to learn a little more about what we do and to get to know some of the great people at NPD who work so hard to keep our city safe.”

At the event, attendees can meet and take pictures with NPD officers, learn about the SWAT van and police cars, see the NPD Boat, Bicycle & Motorcycle Patrol, receive child ID kits, view K9 demonstrations and more.

Noblesville Main Street will feature information on its Community Campaign, as well as upcoming fall events. White River Christian Church will have popsicles, while supplies last, and the Noblesville Fraternal Order of Police will be grilling free hotdogs and giving out water, while supplies last.

“This is a great opportunity for our organization to show support for one of the many groups that serve our community,” Noblesville Main Street CEO Chris Owens said. “We look forward to seeing our residents come out in full support Tuesday evening.”
